AFRICA’S WORLD CUP.
AFRICA’S WORLD CUP.
It’s a source of great pleasure to me to be alive to see the continent of Africa playing host to the greatest show on earth- the FIFA Soccer World Cup.
Many years ago, the prospect of an African hosting of the tournament was no more than a dream. But then dreams sometimes come true, and this one certainly did come true.
For Africans, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event: most people living today are not going to see another African World Cup. Yet but for Sepp Blatter’s Rotation brainwave, the continent would not have had this opportunity now and may not even get it in our lifetime.
But the deal was sealed about a decade ago, signed six years ago, and now its here, ready to be delivered.
